The Carlton Gardens and the Royal Exhibition Building draw hundreds of visitors each year. The gardens are spectacular, featuring trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, lakes and a stunning fountain, while the Exhibition Building provides a prime example of architecture dating back to the late1800s. Originally built for the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition, the building has been inscribed on the World Heritage list. The northern end of the gardens houses the Melbourne Museum and an IMAX Cinema.
